Have You Ever Felt Lost?

Have you ever felt like the walls were closing in on you? That you would not be able to handle another thing? Have you woken up in the middle of the night and you couldn't turn off all the things going on in your head?

Well, let's face it. I can see a ton of women raising their hands in the air and saying "Amen to that." I think if you looked up the word "woman" in the dictionary, those questions and more like them, would appear in print!

I am at that stage in my life right now. My 2 boys are basically men and seem to need me less and less. I am constantly asking myself - "Now what?' It can be seen as both refreshing and totally can make you scared shitless.

Before we all became moms, I am sure that we all had dreams and goals. Whatever we defined as being successful was written down on our bucket lists. I can tell you that I have a bucket list to this day and have actually crossed some things off. Who would have thought!!

But lately, the anxiety is creeping in that I will not accomplish some things. All of my life, I have had to work really hard to achieve something. Did you ever witness someone get what they want on the first try? Well, I am not and never will be that girl - I am the one putting on my work boots and grinding my feet into the dirt. Failure was never an option, but what if some of my goals never come to fruition?

Wait - what did I just say? I am a strong woman just like the ones reading this post and I will not let anxiety win. Hell - no! Here are a few tips that I will keep in  mind and hope you do. Remember these when you are trying to reach for the stars!!

1. Turn off the negativity in your head. Easier said than done right? Well, just every morning get out of bed and repeat this mantra - "I am a good person and deserve good things".

2. Keep a journal. Write down everything you want to accomplish on each day. When you do it, check it off the list.

3. Stop comparing yourself to others who you think "have it all and are successful". You have no idea what they are going through. Everyone has something.

4. Don't make excuses to not take the risk. Falling on your face sometimes is a good thing! Seize the day and "Carpe Diem."

5. My father, ( God rest his soul), always told me that you are exactly where you should be. Don't analyze things and just breathe.

6. Just because we are Moms and are raising kids or our kids are adults, does unequivocally mean that we are not intelligent. We still have things to offer.

7. Just cut the bullshit and get on with it. Don't let anyone ever tell you that you can't do something!

So, enough of feeling lost! We are all in this rollercoaster ride I call "motherhood" and we are certainly not alone. Besides my father used to tell me when I said I was trying to find myself this one quote. "Reach behind and put your 2 hands on your butt. Squeeze and you found yourself!"
